Dyoneseus' Ear
Abstract of the inside of a cave in Siracusa, Sicily, carved out of the limestone by slaves and where political prisoners were held.
It is said that Dyoneseus would sit in a spot above the entrance of the cave and listen in on the plotting of his prisoners.

i've been there. the natural acoustics of the funnel-shaped cleft in the rock amplified sounds out to the dale it emptys into, a veritable garden of eden. the guards would place prisoners deep within the cave and hear every move they made while relaxing outside. least that's the way i heard it.
