Grief

After my grandfather's funeral, my family went walking along the shore of Lake Superior in Duluth, Minnesota. My grandmother's grief was evident when she parted from us to sit alone. I don't think she realized that I was watching nearby, wishing I could ease her despair, but allowing her the space to embrace it for a while.
