Americana Diner, New Jersey
I'm a diner guy.
You can keep your Starbucks and all your flavored coffees. Just give me a diner, a chunky diner mug and whatever coffee they are serving and I'm happy.
Me, I've made two of the most important decisions of my life in a New Jersey diner. One time, I was dating this gal for about a year, and we decided to break up. About a month goes by and I realize she was "the one." I return from a business trip to Miami, call her up and we meet in a diner to square things up. Two years later I married her.
More recently, the aforementioned gal and I come across this house that we really like. We can see us living in it, raising a family in it, but it's at the top end of our budget...we go to this diner, the Americana on Route 130, get some coffee...and make the decision. We put a bid on it later that night. And now we are living in it, raising a family.
I love the quiet normalacy of diners. That you can go and be alone with your thoughts, a cup of coffee and a newspaper and just fade into it. That's the beauty of a diner.
