WWII vet talks with son
Clifford Ryerson, a World War II veteran of Pearl Harbor, sits in his son's home in Tannersville, PA, during a rainy day, 11/30/06. He suffers from a severe case of Alzheimer’s as well as bad hearing. He doesn’t remember many things he told his two children over the years—that on a sunny Sunday morning at Pearl Harbor, he fired a handgun at Japanese planes as they roared overhead, dropping torpedoes towards the battlewagons lined up on Battleship Row. His son Glenn and daughter Kathleen take care of him. Often times, Mr. Ryerson will stare off without speaking for long periods of time until addressed.
