Lily X-Ray

I put a lily in a vase with some x ray "dye" for a few hours so that it would show up better, and then shot an x ray of it. When it was developed I hung it on a view box and shot it with my digital camera,

You've gone the extra mile for a very interesting photo. I might suggest that you level the Black to absolute black and this will pop even more.

Very Cool, I agree add a bit more contrast to make it pop more.

Thanks. I did adjust the contrast a bit, but I was loosing some of the delicate petal detail. I will work on it some more later.

Awesome image Penny. Personally I like the delicate grays, and the fact that it looks like an X-Ray. A matter of individual taste I guess :)

a very cool presentation - looked through comments - don't know what I'd do - I like that the stem goes just above the corner - I might experiment with the blacks - but shades of gray makes it different and the translucence is very interesting

Ultra-interesting image - reminds me of the translucency you see in some sea life.

This is quite stunning the way you have transformed typical subject matter into something very special. The ghost-like quality of the image penetrates beyond common and practical levels of perception and takes the viewer into an unscripted realm of possibilities. I hope a series of these images is in your plans.

Thank you for all of the comments, critiques and support. I'm glad you all like this! Jon, unfortunately I can't do others like this since my source for x-rays has stopped using film. I have posted an mri of a tulip that I did. I have one of a dogwood that I did at the same time as the tulip mri, and a vase of lillies that I did at the same time as this one. I will try to post them soon.
