Greyhound Courier Express

Another unidentified stop along the road, probably as we were nearing the Manitoba/Ontario border. Aside from the movies, most of the drive through the prairies was a bit of a doozy. I still remember being completely startled at every stop during the second night spent on the road, wondering where the hell we were and sometimes not even knowing for sure. The good part is that the bus wasn't crowded at all so we had room to sleep more or less normally. Once you got used to the sight of someone completely passed out across the aisle with their headphones blaring the radio for no one in particular right in the middle of the night. Right across the aisle.
Breakfast the next morning was had in a restaurant in the 'Peg (I only saw the block around the bus station downtown), and we met up with a good samaritan I'd met in California weeks before that who gave us muffins, corn bread and apples for the road. Rarely food had tasted so great.
In the Trans Canada Highway photo essay.
