Ladoga Lake
Ladoga lake is famous for its so-called "Path of Life" which was build on iced-over surface in winter in WWII - the only way to bring in food into Saint Petersburg which was under siege at the time. Doesn't sound exactly like a holiday destination, but it is a very majestic and tranquil place otherwise. Trust me!
