for up close focus like this with a regular autofocus lens, i switch off the autofocus and use manual. not only does this enable me to focus on the light and composition more but it doesn't wear my battery down trying to refocus constantly.

Semper Fi! Just thought I would say that since I was a Squid and served in Vietnam and we did a lot of work with the 1st Marines on the DMZ in 67 and 68. Nice shot of the frog by the way.
