Preparing the Gondolas
I caught this moment during a recent trip to Providence, RI. This is a Gondolier preparing for that night's Water-Fire celebration, which is held periodically throughout the summer and Fall. I understand these Gondolas were brought over from Italy and the craftmanship is just beautiful. If you look closely below the Gondolier, you will see the fine art painting inside the Gondola. At night, the stacks of fire wood that you see sitting above the water are lit into spectacular bonfires. The river is lined with restaurants, artisans, and lots of people just enjoying the sights and music.
