It's a Beautiful Day
Self portrait. It's not as manipulated as it looks. Mostly a lot of dodge & burn. The background is my garage...this is what it looks like when you're spinning in an office chair because you're too lazy to get off your ass and find a proper background. This photo is probably the result of growing up during the Cold War, an overactive imagination, and too many post apocalyptic movies...Road Warrior was always one of my favorites.

Beautiful background, and inventive technique. When I saw the theme, I immediately though goggles. Well done.

Thanks :) The background was inspired by the fact that I get off work at 3am and really have nowhere to go at that time of night to do this.

great idea for an image, and they say necessity is the spark of invention (or something like that!) - this background is 100x better than anything else you could have put yourself in front of. Great execution - I'm thoroughly impressed and jealous as I never would have thought to do something like this!

Ha! Thanks :) This is still one of my favorite self portraits....I hate self portraits, which is why I'm almost always wearing a mask in them.

I'm still laughting thinkin' of how you found the background... I'm a lazy italian and this would be a smart way to keep my ass on the chair!
Well done! -

Thank you everyone for the comments, the favorites, and the votes. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping this one gets in the magazine. This photo has probably got more attention than anything else I've posted publicly. I hope they do more themes like World of Tomorrow. This was by far my favorite theme on JPG. I kind of hate to see it close.
Cheers!

HA! Yeah. Funny how it's changed from wondering when the bombs would fall to hoping you don't catch some horrific strain of the flu from the guy next to you on the bus.
