The Real Thing
Late one night, on a location scout, another photographer and I drove past this man outside a Walgreen's Pharmacy. We pulled over and approached him about taking his photograph. He did not speak English and was reluctant to have his photograph taken. His young daughter was with him and she eventually convinced him to pose for a minute. They had traveled from Texas to Minneapolis with the promise of work, but soon after arriving in Minneapolis the man had to have his legs amputated and lost the job.
How or why the legs were amputated was lost in translation. Both he and his young daughter were very shy and very kind. Winter is coming and I hope they are doing okay.
