Baby of the Forest
"Man of the forest" translates to "orangutan" in the Malay language. He is losing the ecological battle of survival in the rainforests of Sumatra and Borneo.
This one was shot in Borneo, Sabah, at the Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary. Rehabilitated orangutans (orphans, injured etc.) are eventually let back into the forest and have the option of coming to a feeding platform twice a day for bananas and a milky formula. This is where you can catch these amazing creatures - this one is a baby hanging around on the ropes which lead them through the jungle to the feeding platform. They are extremely nimble, as they leave in the tree tops (the only member of the great apes family to live in the trees).
