In September 2005, was invited to visit the now disused Maze Prison just outside Lisburn Co Antrim, Northern Ireland.

The Maze site is being demolished to make way for an international sports stadium.

The hospital wing, which I was in and one H-block will be preserved as a museum and memorial to the Troubles.

The Nissan Huts were the oldest part of the prison. They hailed from the Second World War days and were freezing in the winter.

Recently, when these were being dismantled, a JCB digger fell in to an abandoned escape tunnel and workers found bags of soil in the cavities around the building.
