Turkish artist Ayşe Erkmen’s installation ‘Whitish’ at the XIV. Rohkunstbau ‘Three Colors – White’ Art Exhibition, Sacrow Palace in Brandenburg, Germany. Ayşe Erkmen dispenses for the most part with artistic products. Her installations exist almost exclusively as ephemeral scenes that are preserved only in documentation. She is concerned primarily with transforming spaces, and an essential part of her approach is to dislocate rooms or objects and implement them in a new context. Erkmen's works open up new perspectives on the materials she uses. Everyday objects (in this case ‘Algue’ – plastic elements reminiscent of plants, by the Designers Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec) are transformed into aesthetic ones, engendering poetic metaphors that can be associative and playful, but also critical of our times.
