Maho Beach, St. Maarten, Dutch West Indies

This was taken at the Sunset Beach Bar on Maho Beach in St. Maarten. There is no way you would get this close to a commerical airliner in the United States.

In the Landing in St. Maarten photo essay.

What makes this shot really effective is that it includes people's reactions - so many in the photo are themselves taking pictures of the moment. Great tourist study.

Aside from the absolutely stunning spectacle in front of you, you took a perfect photo of it. The strong use of blues in the plane, the sand props, the water and the sky balance each other really well. (Not that you made them blue of course.. ;) ) And I like how the plane is slightly off-centre. You want to watch it continue to land.
