Thanks a lot guys! I'm checking my gigs' shots as new ones are just round the corner and I always say to myself "next gig I have to get at least one good picture". So, it's time to learn something new and be ready!

Kathy, I use a compact digital camera, I set it to 800 ISO and to 1/60 sec or less exposure time. This way I usually manage to get not moved shots but the noise is really really really too much as the camera hasn't a good resolution. I've tried again and again to lower the noise somehow but didn't manage. So I've tried to use it, increasing excessively contrast and lowering saturation to get a klind of b&w shot. This picture is everything but realistic...anyway I like it, it's a good memory of that night and I'm glad to read you like it too!

Ilike the grainy look of this shot.....Ive been shooting concerts for a while and it takes a while to know the right settings , I usually shoot a lot of images and hope to get a few good ones....the high ISO will deff give you a lot of noise so Ive been shooting shutter speed priority and have been getting decent results but with the stage light always changing its tough....I also have a compact which isnt the greatest but try different things and sometimes it works out;)

John and nö, thank you so much!

Steve, thanks for your comment! I've asked to many how to get better pictures but I've only been said that I have to go to gigs with a pro camera...which isn't really the case (and I don't even got one) as I love to be in the middle of the mental crowd! I have to combine my desire to come back home with a decent shot and my desire to enjoy the show so the compact camera is what I bring with me!

It's really challenging to get pictures at gigs. I have tried at the last one to use lower ISO and I had a little better results. But this last time I was not so close to the stage so...no good quality but good memories in my shots.

I shoot shutter speed priority and take many images as well. The worts problem I'm having with the compact camera is that it would be so much better to use manual focus with all those crazy lights. Anyway, I manage to get something decent by studying a little how lights are palying...even though I get tired after a while and I only want to jump and sing!
