Misty Mountain Sheep
Caught on a late Spring day when the mist was just lifting and a sunny day opening up.
Some of these sheep had been recently shorn, some had not and the contrast was unexpected and disconcerting. It looked as if some had left off their pyjamas!
All of them have a magnificent place to graze with views to the mountians and the sea and in Summer, clouds of emigrating butterflies sailing by.
The sheep in transition between one part of their lives and another, possibly between life and death. The butterflies between one feeding place and another and although you can't see them their image is imprinted on the photographer's memory.
The mountains are in transition too, between the fresh green of Winter and Spring and the dramatic brown of Summer.
The sea, unseen to the left, is always in transition, from season to season, in plenty and in drought, just like the land that feeds it.
