Way To Go 1-Lung!

In July, 2002 my mom was diagnosed with lung cancer and had one of her lungs removed.

In July, 2006 she-- who had never run in her pre-surgery life, ran/completed her first-ever 5K race.

My dad devotedly waited at the finish line to cheer her on with a banner he secretly made from scratch the night before.

I love this picture because I caught them both in the moment, happy and proud.
