Cobden Beach
The port entrance to The largest town on the West coast of the South Island is between breakwaters and across a shifting bar, where bad weather can create conditions which boat users must respect. Many fishermen have lost their lives, and their boat, trying to cross the 'bar' in rough conditions. The cobden Bar is great for surfing having a good left bar break.
Remains of wrecks having met their fate on the notorious 'bar', can still be seen at low tide .
This image taken on our last motorcycle trip 'home.' We will visit again in a couple of weeks.

This is such a beautiful place. It looks so peaceful and it is hard to imagine it can be so dangerous. I love the lines in the image. They carry your eyes all through it. I also love the canvas effect.
