As much as I love my Harley I have a real problem with Harley Davidson.
No company in America waves the flag more then they do.
I was looking to buy a new leather jacket and a few dress up parts for my bike recently.

Well I won't be buying them at our local Harley dealer.
Almost all of their leather goods are made in China or Taiwan.

And because they have the H.D. logo on them they cost far more then A good quality jacket made in America does.

From what I saw of their dress up parts they leave a lot to be desired as well.
It's all light weight stamped out junk with a very half ass chrome plate job that you can be sure will start to pit and peel in a year or less.

I know the bottom line is the life blood to any company but you'de think with all their flag waving and great history they might want to stock a few things of quality made in this country!

It is too bad that high taxes have driven most companies out of the US. Non citizens can come to America and open businesses with huge tax breaks for a number of years and then sign the companies over to a relative and get a few more tax break years. The goal is to get them to provide more employment for Americans but many of them never hire Americans. A little messed up I think. Most small businesses fail because of the high taxes paid out in the first few years.

I sure do remember! Just have look at my Decay entry. Not making items in the USA is what happened! I love your story! Very dead on!
