    I remember Canal Street in 1955. It was lined with "employment agencies" that sold jobs for US $ 10 that would only last two weeks, but although they paid less than the prescribed minimum, it helped keep my head above water til I found something better. Makes me nostalgic. Looked a lot different then.

    Carl, I was living at 74 Mott Street in 1955. The rent was $40 a month, and I shared the apt. with three other people.
