Wild Flowers ~ Mistflower (Conoclinium coelestinum)

Again, down the road and around the corner, I found these flowers. Have no clue what they are, but they were sure pretty. They were mixed in with the daisy look alikes and Golden rods. They were all in a ditch along the road.

    Pretty flowers, but they don't grow around here...I've never seen them.

    They remind me of a flower called ageratum, which I've seen before but they're not wild unless these just reseeded from someone's garden.

    What you have here based on the leaf shape is a Betony-leaf Mistflower (Conoclinium coelestinum). It's in the aster family. Very good plant for the butterfly garden.

    I have another variety, called Gregg's mistflower in my yard. In my PF there is an image of queen butterflies on this particular mistflower.

    This is definitely one to get seeds from and plant in your yard.

    If you gather the seeds (I call these wild ageratum), and broadcast them, they will spread. The skippers, Gulf Fritillaries and Monarchs love these.
