While visiting a cemetary from the 1800's near Reading, VT, I stopped to say hello the the residents and ponder what their lives may have been back then. Elwin P. Taylor was one of those people.

That is exactly what I would have been thinking. About how they lived...

I do the same thing Warren. I imagine there joys and their sorrows. I wonder what they would do differently if they could live again. A terriific capture.

Wouldn't it be nice if each grave had a narrative of the life of its occupant? Each of us impacts the world in some way. It would be fun to hear what each contribution was. Great shot, Warren, and an entrance into daydreams.

There's a cemetery about 3 blocks from my house; I love wandering through reading the headstones and wondering about their lives. This is a great post, Warren!

You really should do a photo essay on this series!

Great shot Warren, one of my favorite cemeterys is in Durango Colorado, it is high on a steep hillside just west of downtown...when I go there I think of the people who had to be brought up there by wagon in the olden days and wonder how they made it up the steep grade also how they dug the frozen ground...Most of the markers there are back in the late 1800s.

I have heard it said the the date of the birth and death are not as important on the headstone as the dash in between...that is where the life of the person is represented! Make your dash count!!!

Interesting series. We traveled through VT looking for Smith Granite monuments a few weeks ago.
