Great Horned Owl 2
This is the "habitat mate" of the great horned owl in my previous posting. This one prefers to be on a log that sits on the ground next to a small tree.

My goodness, look at those feathers. It is little wonder he is "waterproof." I've got an owl in my front yard, but he has eluded digital "capture" so far. Fantastic shot.

What a forlorn look!! Even with that, he's still gorgeous and expertly photographed.

Several have mentioned that he looks forlorn. I believe he is just old, and maybe, though living at the park for several years, he may miss being free. It has not affected his appetite. :-)

Absolutely stunning, you know their ears are offset at different levels and the reason they have to be able to turn their heads at such great angles is because they have no periferal vision like we do.

I think the poor nocturnal creature was missing out on some sleep. It was yesterday afternoon when I took this.
