Found this rare and unusual hibiscus deep in the Hawaii's Big Island's Waipio Valley - 25 May 2009

    Great composition, exposure and color. Also, I like the fact that your DOF is not too short, as often happens with folks setting their cameras on Macro and blasting away.

    Michael, El Capitolio hibiscus was originaly discovered in Cuba although apparently the parentage is unkown. My brother in law has the pink one growing in his yard in Miami. One story I read long ago was that it might have been developed by the Atkins Botanical Garden (originally founded by Harvard University) near my hometown of Cienfuegos.
