Her trust was a blanket he grew to despise
Her ready acceptance of all of his lies
She became quite the joke with the rest of the guys
He once had a woman
Once had a woman
Once had a woman who loved him

But that was long ago
When love was fed
On a few soft hours
In a stranger's bed
The times were wild
And the lives we led astray

If he could just take back that callous goodbye
When she curled like paper tossed into the fire
But there were prettier ladies he wanted to try
He once had a woman
Once had a woman
And I was that woman who loved him
