This portal was in Sivas, Turkey, and it was the entrance to an abandoned caravansary. If Turkey were a color, it would be blue. That's what I remember: the blue of the sky, the blue of the tile, the blue of the pre-dawn and post-sunset hours. Blue was never my favorite color before Turkey: now I'm like an addict. But not just any blue will do, really, it's this shimmering hashish blue that glows from within, usually in the hour before sunrise and the hour after sunset.
