Carnivore
I was walking on the field border when for some reason I saw this yellowjacket move on a twig like grass, then I looked closer and it was struggling in the clutches of a mantis - incredibly I happened to have my camera with me....I watched the mantis devour the yellowjacket - it tore it in half, ate the right half first, then "groomed" or cleaned up the mess on that um "leg" then set to on the second half - I may have to upload another set of its jaws - WOW I cannot say how lucky I felt to catch this feast in action - truly fascinating....

How incredible to capture this action taking place, Nelson...It is interesting how bugs will eat another bug for survival...maybe that is why God created an endless supply of bugs:)

Incredible capture! I thought that Praying Mantis are green? Maybe it is just the light in this that makes it the color in the photo.
