My father, sitting with Max the dog on his lap, both perhaps reminiscing about the future past.

I think the lack of light in this makes it look so realistic!

Thanks Donald. You assuaged my fears - I kept wondering if I didn't need to get more light on the scene, and my work monitor is really bright, especially at night... I wanted a darkish mood, something along the lines of Rembrandt lighting, but was afraid of losing too much in the shadows... Cheers, C

Reminds me of Umberto D. Cannot tell if your father is lucky or wondering about stars that just missed crossing his path long ago. The lighting is superb and the framing just perfect. A fabulous, lonely shot, even if a family of 80 people lurk outside the picture, in a loud party in your father's honor. He is a trailblazer, showing us where we all will go, content with long moments and friends who understand little about philosophy or human ambitions, but everything about what it means to be a friend. Great shot.

the lighting is wonderful, the subtle colors add to the feel of the autumn years of life
