i took this on may 1st, my father's birthday. he would have been 57 years old, had he not passed away in 1988 from lung cancer, four days after my 7th birthday. usually, this date is a bit more spring-like and beautiful and in the past few years, i've been able to celebrate the day more and more. the dreary, rainy weather we've had all day made it a bit harder this year.
*the words say "tramps like us, baby we were born to run" - i was wearing my new springsteen shirt (thanks, mom) for this shot. my parents went to see springsteen at the spectrum when she was pregnant with me in the summer of 1981. a few nights before i took this picture, mom and i went to see him at the very same venue.
