This shot speaks to me of the unsettling contrasts within the Tuscan hill town of Voterra, as well as traditional and more modern roles. There’s the affectionate couple with their child and then the solo father with his kids. Not sure what to make of how the single dad is pushing the stroller. Is he being playful or begrudgingly spending time with his kids? Is he in fact a single dad or just giving his wife a much needed break?
Sure wish we had in the US strollers like this, where an older kiddo can comfortably stand.
Note: My dear JPG friends please check out my latest essay. I'm hoping this is the kind of gender role story JPG is looking for. Thanks!
In the On the Streets of Italy photo essay.

Lets hope he just likes to spend time with the kids. I always wonder about people when I go out too. Great shot.

Well entered, I think he's just trying to appear cool...

I tend to agree with Eithne, yet I think it might be a matter of posture since men are usu. taller....it's hard to bend over to a lower object. (just a thought)

I've never seen a stroller like that in the U.S. Super shot and entry!!

Thanks everyone. Mike, there's actually a platform on the back of that stroller designed for little feet to stand on.
