Elude
Another shot of Amber - the 19 year old aspiring model.
This pic is one of the many I took on our first photo session.
I met Amber in a Coffee shop and have a pic of that meeting under the title Amber Debut. During our first meeting our discussion on photography and portraits led to this shoot.
This photo session was supposed to be outdoors in the later hours of the afternoon to utilize the natural soft light but unfortunately we had to cancel it due to rain - typical Scottish weather =)
Anyways we decided not to waste our day n plans and go ahead with the shoot - we did this shoot in Amber's living room - which did not have any descent lighting at all =( I had to play with the camera settings a lot before i could get any NON-blurry pic.
This is the first pic that i processed and am posting here for your comments and critiques.
I look forward to all your advise.

Regarding to weather you have done a wise discission not to shoot out side, because that lens might not give you the thing you want, so come to this shot, basics of portrait photography (is to shot from bone to bone) A simple eye shot, eye with an object, face only, face with up to color bone, face with up to hip line, face up to knees and then the complete shot.
So what we have here, face not complete and coming down to breast level and it is not there complete, (error). Another thing she is watching deep down level, you have to give her a point so that you can see her clear eyes, (error). Another thing here nose is touching the chin line, this is distraction, we manage it with a complete side shot, gradually side shot, or a perfect front face shot, every angle gives a different strength.
Check this and correct.

I might have cropped it just a bit more from below, but I am that is artistic expression. I don't believe in these text book ideas of how a portrait should be, from where to where, and I don't call these things as errors. As an art form of expression, every photograph expresses something or the other, and that is the artist's choice, and sometimes an unconscious occurrence. Either way, a perceiver has no standpoint to declare it as an 'error' per se. I think this is a nice photograph. One doesn't neccesarily NEED eyes to tell the emotions.
