I live in an area where bad weather is routine so over the years I've get used to it. I don't mean hurricane or something that huge...but very thick fog, heavy rain for days and days, very cold Winter and awful Summer with sultry weather and the sky grey from June to September because of it.
Anyway, I've always liked the way seasons replaced one to the other and I've always "adjusted" myself to them.
But when thunderstorms come...I'm scared. When I see the sky turns to violet or strange pink I know hail is arriving and I stay at home or find a safe place if I'm out on foot. When it happened I'm inside a car, as a couple of days ago, I really really really get frightened.
I've taken this picture just before the worst moment. In few seconds wind was blowing, rain and hail (and luckily not only hail, which is much worse) hit the car, noise was deafening. I stopped taking pictures just hoping hail wasn't going to break the windshield.
Nature can be so violent...and yet it's Nature, you can't blame it for bad weather, it's only "natural"!

I love this shot!! Nature can be so scary. I am terrified of lightening and my heart jumps out of my chest everytime the tornado siren goes off.

Fantastic essay! I like it so much! I think one positive moment is that sometimes after that heavy weather you feel more lucky with simple things - shower, dry socks...

the statement raining cats and dogs actually has a real story..once upon a time long long ago people used straw and such for roofs...the animals cats and dogs and such were always on the roofs...their droppings would fall thru and thus the bed canopy was born to keep that out of your bead and also when it would rain hard the straw and such would give way and the animals would fall thru the roof thus the statement raining cats and dogs....
