This sapling was springing from the base of a sequoia tree growing on the property of our rental cottage in Salies de Bearn, France

Trees have the most amazing ways of surviving. This is very beautiful. The new fresh green shoots are wonderful contrast to the rough, gnarly bark. Excellent.
