I met this guy on a deserted back road in the California desert. He was 40 miles from the nearest anything, it was 115 degrees outside, and he was pushing a bicycle with 400 lbs of cans on a homemade trailer behind it. He told me he used to be homeless in the city, but trying to find cans to recycle for money was always a hustle, but out there in the desert, all the cans were his. I gave him a gatorade, 24 dollars, a hand shake and thanked him for the stories.
