Kennecott from above 9K feet - I needed a break from the Valley.
Utah is a unique place to live, you can drive 1/2 hour in any direction and be in a completely different environment: Desert, High Uintah's, Salt Flats and everything in between.
When I moved back here in 1998 from San Francisco, I was debating between Chicago and Salt Lake... the beauty of Utah is unmatched anywhere.
Summers are hot and Winters are deep in snow; the Fall and Spring are a Magical time here!
Anasazi Indian ruins and the Fremont peoples roamed these lands hundreds/thousands of years ago; you can still feel their presence everywhere you look.
The Great Basin is an amazing place; a great lake called Bonneville was an inland Ocean, full of all the creatures from the past... Dinosaurs inhabited the eastern part of the state and you will find their bones everywhere. Giant petrified shells, trees and T-Rex's abound.
I love this state and can tolerate the status quo in exchange for the wondrous environment.
My goal is to own a little gallery in southern Utah, but right now I'm off to make dinner: homemade chicken quesadillas with Fresh garden vegetables. Tomorrow, I'll be off to Volunteer my time at the Utah Co-Op, helping others in greater need.
In the Living in Oblivion & Paradise photo essay.
