Post Katrina ... This photo was taken in the small town of Henry (or what used to be Henry) not very far off the coast from the Gulf of Mexico in Southern Louisiana. It was a ghost town when I passed through several months after the hurricane. From the point of view of someone who deals everyday with the effects mankind has on the earth such as global warming and critical changes in weather patterns .. we had it coming.
These people assumed they'd make it through another storm season just like they do every year & go on with their lives after it passed, that is until mandatory evacuations were initiated throughout most of the coastal parishes. They did what they could to try and protect any valuable belongings they had to leave behind ... but as you can see in the picture, tying down their truck with a heavy duty metal cable to a near by large oak did little to save it.
