I find displays meant to convince us to buy things particularly interesting. In the case of this mannequin, I was struck by how utterly bored she looked. I thought "Is this supposed to entice someone to buy something?" In a sense though, I think it tells the truth: Wanting is stimulating but having.. not so much. I often feel less satisified than I expect to after I purchase something new. In fact, it's rare that consuming actually provides satisfaction as advertised.
