This tree landed on top of that school bus in 1979 when Hurricane David hit the island of Dominica. To date Hurricane David is the 18th most powerful hurricane on record. David spawned eight tornadoes in Virginia. Yet, the tree continues to grow. The top of the tree stands forty feet above the right frame of the photo.

    I love this shot! I teach horticulture classes and this is such a great example of what a tree can do. Usually around here it's because someone topped or mistreated their trees. What a wonderful image, Sherry. R
