Buddha and the Bodhi Tree

If there's one image that best depicts Ayutthaya, the image of the sandstone buddha entrapped in the roots of a Bodhi (Banyan) tree has to be it.
A famous attraction in the ancient Thai Capital, the buddha head is located in the grounds of Wat Mahatat. Considered sacred and an important landmark, the image is heavily guarded against vandals and thieves.
