Gleeful groom
This wedding couple shot in Japan was, thinking back, a gift to me from the universe.
During a working trip to Tokyo in November 2008, one of the people I met in the course of work was going to get married that weekend. But it was in another city and I had neither the time nor the money to make the trip. I was mildly disappointed. I would have loved to witness and photograph a traditional Japanese wedding.
Then on my last morning in Tokyo, I was walking around near the famous Sensoji Temple when I spotted this newly married couple. They had just emerged from a restaurant and, after some photo taking, were carried around in a rickshaw.
I managed only about 10 shots, with this one showing the groom looking most gleeful.
I had totally forgotten about these images. I was looking for something else to submit to the Matrimony theme when these popped up and I said to myself... "Hey!"
