in the weeds

So it happened like this: While driving around with my friend Kindra looking for a cool spot to shoot, I see this great riverbed close to my old University, so I swing the car around and park on the side of the road close to the edge, which is still about 1000 feet from all the tall weeds and such. No big deal for me, but of course Kindra is wearing 4 inch stiletto heels and the drop off to the river is a about 10 feet of loose gravel. She's such a trooper! So not wanting to lug around all my camera stuff and keep her from falling to her demise, I just grab my small strobe and wide angle lens and we set off. After manuvering around to find the least steep inlet to the bottom, we finally make it to the weeds and start shooting. Firing off a few test shots, I suddenly remember that I forgot my polaroid filter and my sky is much more blown out than I'm happy with, and without my tripod, I can't really do much bracket HDR stuff. Then I remember the photo challenge here on JPG! I grab my sunglasses(awesome green camo wayfarers I picked up for $5 at a souvenir store), turn them around trying to find the best angle to have them cover as much of my 77mm wide front element, and compose so one of the earpieces doesn't end up in her eye. Tada! Definitely a fun substitute, even if you can see a little of the confusion in her eyes from looking at my juggling a flash in one hand while still trying to hold sunglasses backward over my lens and reach the shutter release.
