Queens, NY 6.10.09 - Unisphere

For this theme, I'm going to the past for the vision of the future. The Unisphere in Flushing Meadows Park was put in place for the 1964 World's Fair, which featured a technology pavilion (if my parent's memories of going are correct. I was four years in their future.) This represented hope of the future, and the technology that they marveled at this point is probably quaint and rather Jetsons in comparison to the innovations that have actually occurred since. I picked a gray day to photograph here so the sky would drop out... intentionally dystopian.
Ironically for this subject, I shot it using film and a Holga... developed in Rodinal.
