This is a fantastic close up shot of the baby Jay!!! I hope that it learns to fly quickly and nothing happens to it. It is such a dangerous time for the birds when they are learning how to fly. I have seen parent Jay's around here running squirrels and cats off when their babies are learning to fly. It is comical to see the squirrels or cats running as close to the ground as possible with the Jay practically right on top of them : )

I've kept the cats indoors for the last few days. And the blue jay sits on the eavestrough and squawks at the cats in the window. The jays have dive-bombed all critters (except humans thankfully!) since the nest was started.
