Sweet Grass Basket Market ~
Charleston, South Carolina.
Sweet grass basket making has been a part of the Mount Pleasant, SC community for more than 300 years. Brought to the area by slaves who came from West Africa, basket making is a traditional art form which has been passed on from generation to generation.
Today, it is one of the oldest art forms of African origin in the United States. Mount Pleasant, South Carolina enjoys the distinction of being the only place where this was practiced.

Beautiful image that looks like it was shot above the baskets with a wide angle lens...good lighting... well composed and also appreciate your description.

Beautiful capture and great entry. Brings back a lot of wonderful memories. My husband and I had a condo in Mt, Pleasant that was our home base for about nine years. And yes, Don, sweet grass baskets are expensive, but worth it.
