As I framed this shot of the beautiful relief above a side door of the Basilica of San Domenico in the Tuscan city of Siena, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I couldn't help but laugh over the positioning of those pigeons, but at the same time wanted to cry over the effects of loads of pigeon droppings. I was hesitant about posting this shot, not wanting to offend anyone, then thought it's a good example of how we can't control nature and of how life at times thrusts us into a situation of mixed emotions.

This is beautiful in spite of "Nature". I see the humor, but also have the feeling that the birds are defacing beautiful artwork. Great for the theme.
