The Rule of Halves

Of all the questions I have with potentially awful answers, the one that eats at me the most is . . . how do certain people have the ability to love half assed? There is a situation I have been in a few times . . . where I am looking someone dead in the eyes and can see that I am the only one on earth for this person, at least right that moment. We are connected, I mean something no one else does. Hours later . . . she can do the exact same thing for someone else, be aware of it, and still somehow manage to sleep at night. Some of us can gently hold multiple people in the course of a day, breaking off little pieces of ourselves and handing them around to wide eyed lovers. A little for you . . . a little for you, a bit more for you, oh wait here is another . . . today I have extra! In the past I have also been the breaker . . . and here I am years later completely unable to tell you, or myself, how we do it. How we live with ourselves. How we split ourselves in halves . . . or thirds . . . or God forbid, quarters. I know there is an answer . . . someone reading this could probably sum it up quite nicely in just a few words. Please don’t . . . reality is so ugly. And, well . . . I want to feel special just a little bit longer. I have my piece and I’ll fight for it tooth and nail.

it is blurry for a reason, it goes hand in hand with the context of its subcaption. the blurriness of the picture parallels the blurriness of "the rule of halves" as he poetically called it, Donald. duh.

Great photo, even more amazing with what you stated below.

it's not blurry -- it's selective focus. and it's terrific work!
