Three Cups of Tea gives one a glimpse into the lives of girls in Pakistan and Afghanistan. It is the Pakistan/Afghanistan custom to drink three cups of tea to do business, the first you are a stranger, the second you become a friend and the third you join the family. This is a fascinating story about Greg Mortenson who tried unsuccessfully to climb the K2. His life turned around unexpectedly having grown fond of the inhabitants and he promised to build a girl's school. The book takes you through his encounters with the tough war lords, the help he received from the locals who saved him pennies and his life, his near encounters and the girls and their stories. Over a decade Greg Mortenson achieved building fifty-five schools especially for girls against all odds. It is an insight into the way of life in these countries, in the rugged and harsh countryside and proves to us that with a humanitarian spirit and tremendous courage life can become better for those left behind. I highly recommend this book; it certainly gives one an insight into life in these countries.

That is a great book. Every person I meet who's read it gets something different out of it. Almost as if they read a different book. It was highlighted in a Dearborn school by the principal who made all the teachers read it to reinvigorate them to educate their kids. Your expression matches the tone of the book. Nice capture!
