Not sure if I'll leave this one up here, I'll have another look at it in the cold light of day tomorrow. (sharpness / focus) due to rising heat ???

Taken last night through my mate Luke's big fat 2.500 scope. .......The race is on, and at the moment, Luke's winnin'.

We were having major dramas with the days Queensland heat rising up out of the concrete tiled house roofs we were shooting over coming up and distorting my favourite place...(one of them anyway)............It was akin to shooting a ground level bitumen road shot in the middle of Death Valley without getting "roadburn haze" distortion in the image.
I was thinking of throwing a couple of "snags" up on the roof to cook while we were shooting and having a midnight barby... except we would have frozen our nuts off waiting as the ground temp was about +9C..(I must say sorry to all you guys in the cold areas.....eg Canada etc, me thinking +9C is cold, makes it sound like we are pussy's down here.....but it's just not true).

Saturn was cool through the scope, but I still need to come to grips with shooting it. Compared to shooting this , it's like focusing on, and shooting a tick on a cows ass from a couple of light years away....and on the night leading into a weekend, it was just too much...... Sorry !
