The poor little baby caterpillars never make it to be butterflies because, well.. Monarch butterflies think it's ok to lay 600 caterpillars on one tiny plant! If you're about to be in a cacoon turning yourself into a butterfly, you're going to want to eat a lot, right? So only one or two survive.
